What is the future of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)?

Last year around this time, I had the honor of hosting Geoff Mitchell on the podcast. Geoff is a pastor in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and is pastor of Lindenwood Christian Church in Memphis, TN one of the oldest Disciple churches in Tennessee’s largest city.  A year ago, we talked about the ongoing decline of mainline Protestantism.  Today, we also talk about the decline of this venerable tradition, but we are focusing on the congregation we both call home, the Disciples of Christ.

Our denomination has seen better times.  Membership has cratered over the last 20 years or so, with more and more people dropping out and more and more churches closing.  What’s going on? What can be done?  

Geoff and I have a long discussion about the denomination and where its headed.  In some ways, this is also a continuation of a solo podcast I did very recently about the future of the denomination, so if you were intrigued by what you heard in that episode, stay tuned for a very frank discussion with my longtime colleague Geoff Mitchell.
