Lord, I want to pray for the president. I want to pray that he will govern with justice and wisdom. I want the president to be successful in governing. I want to be the kind of person that loves the neighbor, the stranger and the enemy.
And yet, Lord.
It is hard to pray on days like today.
On days like today, I want to join Mary in pray that the haughty are brought down from their thrones and the lowly and forgotten lifted up instead of thrown away.
God, I can’t pray for the president today. I do not want to pray for the president today. But you, O Lord, are the One who changes hearts and decides the fates of nations. You are the one that can bring peace. You are the One who can make a way when there seems to be no way.
I can’t pray for the president today. Forgive me for my hard heart. Even if I don’t want to pray those words, Lord, may you still soften the heart of the president and vice president; may they govern not simply for power but with justice and wisdom.
Come, Lord Jesus. Amen.
Priceless.
Well said. I am there with you after reading the news today.
