Podcast Episode: An All Saints Theology in a Political Halloween World
A Conversation with Episcopal Priest, Jacob Smith.
In late January, the Iowa Preachers Project (which I was a part of) had its midwinter meeting in Orange County and while having dinner at the local In and Out (which you have to do if you’re in Southern California), one of our guest speakers said the following, "My politics are Halloween and my theology is All Saints' Day." That made my ears perk up. It also made me ask some questions. What did this sentence mean? What makes politics like Halloween? What makes the church more like All Saints Day? Did it mean anything that this statement was made on Inauguration Day? I knew I had to have this person on my podcast to flesh out this sentence and what it means for the church. So listen to this conversation from Episcopal Priest Jacob Smith to learn what this odd phrase means.
