I am a mainline Protestant retired minister and no way in Hades would I have voted for FOTUS. If you quote statics you know you have to give the parameters!
I dislike the subjacent tone of this article, and the implied meaning: "Voting for Trump is a sin".
I understand you dislike him and his policies, but I believe that looking at other people as sinners for their political affiliation is a very dangerous thing that erodes the foundation of your discourse.
I think you misunderstood what I was getting at in my essay. Of course, voting for Trump is not a sin. When I say that they are sinners I mean that in a sense that we are all sinners not because of who we vote for but because of the human condition. Indeed, I am a sinner and I didn’t vote for Trump.
This is such a hard point to get across in spite of what Paul & Jesus have to say about judging and forgiving. I'm perfectly happy to welcome prodigal MAGA voters back into the fold.
Another reason not to blame Trump voters is that few could have anticipated Trump's endless EOs with their racist, inflammatory language, along with his reckless destruction of the Federal government. The full scope of Trump's actions have been unknown in American history up until now. I had an advantage from serving in the Peace Corps in a post-Soviet country. I saw corruption at all levels firsthand. Putin was always at work messing with this fledgling democracy. Only now are we starting to see in this country what **real** corruption is.
Maybe the Qatari plane is a good wake-up call for everyone.

Becasue being wrong is not a sin.
